Do-It-Yourself Guide
For Vinyl Siding

The methods used to apply vinyl siding, and soffit and fascia systems are basically the same for new construction as well as remodeling. Where necessary, special instructions for new construction are included, as well as recommendations for historic restoration.

In all siding projects, be sure that the structure is properly prepared. When remodeling, strapping or removal of uneven siding may be necessary. In new construction, avoid the use of green lumber under the siding - Remember - the siding can only be as straight and as stable as whatever is underneath it.

Please Note: Before starting any siding project, you should review all local building codes, and thoroughly read the literature of each manufacturer for variations that may apply to its products. We at HRTI can help you with these issues, click here for more information.
