The 6 Basic Rules of Vinyl Siding Application

1. Nail in the center of the slot. Do Not face nail.
   
   
2. Do Not nail too tightly or too loosely. Always allow 1/32" clearance between the nail head and the siding panel.
   
   
3. Never force panels up or down when nailing in position. Allow the siding panels to hang without strain.
   
   
4. Installed panels must always move freely from side to side.
   
   
5. Leave a minimum of 1/4" clearance at all openings and stops to allow for normal expansion and contraction. When installing in temperatures below 32°F, increase minimum clearance to 3/8".
   
   
6. Do Not caulk panels where they meet the receiver of inside corners, outside corners, or J-trim. Do Not caulk overlap Joints.
